The Role:
In this exciting new leadership role, the Head of Digital Strategy, UK will lead the core digital function building the capabilities of the agency in the UK and attracting the right talent. The Head of Digital Strategy is responsible for evolving the consultancy’s digital capabilities, integrating with specialists and consultants across the business, and ensuring a stream of innovation and NPD. As part of this role, the Head of Digital Strategy will also be expected to act as a key advisor to senior-level clients, to manage team utilization and assignments, to provide timely strategic POVs on audience / channel / marketplace trends, to support new business opportunities, and generally to advance the agency’s leadership position among communication consultancies.
Responsibilities:- Build, sell in and deliver strategic digital first client plans, with a focus on measurable business and communication outcomes
- Demonstrate deep professional experience in digital communications / marketing, with a clear understanding of how to apply data and technology to derive guiding insights for planning
- Collaborate with senior leaders and client directors to ensure deliverables are meeting or exceeding expectations
- Partner with key members of the senior team to ensure a strong pipeline of new products and approaches
- Drive business growth through leadership counselling and the professional development of staff or agency-wide leadership
- Function as a key player in pursuing new business opportunities, representing digital in new business RFIs, pitches, and scopes
- Ensure integration of additional resources, as needed, into major account business development opportunities
- Establish, recommend and drive long term talent plans for digital to best position as a leader in communication consultancies
- Manage the growth and performance of the digital team through meaningful feedback, education and recognition
- Partner with HR to recruit and develop top talent
- Co-manage internal communication in partnership with the Leadership team
- Establish processes and mechanisms for knowledge sharing
- In partnership with senior leadership, help set the strategic direction of the business
- Manage digital’s visibility within the agency, assuring product and process quality, and contributing to the development of emergent offerings
- Espouse thought leadership and ensure knowledge and awareness of digital products and services
- Oversee agency digital POVs through internally published articles and participation in external events
Requirements:- Previous experience in an agency, consultancy environments
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
- Desire to continually learn and push the boundaries
- Confidence and comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Collaborative team player, open-minded
- Previous line management experience managing dispersed, matrix teams
- Ability to work with and influence stakeholders at all levels, particularly senior-level clients
- Excellent communication/data storytelling skills, ability to distill complex ideas for non-technical audiences
- Strong commercial experience
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and developing clear plans and strategies to respond to needs
- A varied background in Digital Analytics practices:
- Web – experience in journey analytics, tagging, and implementation, platforms such as GA & Adobe
- Social – exposure to both paid and organic as well as platforms such as Crimson Hexagon, Sprinklr
- Media – adtech, attribution and performance marketing practices
- eCommerce – platform experiences with Amazon, Shopify, Profitero
- Testing & Optimisation – tools such as Optimizely / Google Optimize, Hotjar / Crazy Egg
- Exposure to creative analytics practices including image recognition, NLP
