We are currently working with a leading European IT services organisation with 5,000 staff. Headquartered in London, they have offices in globally. Supporting the full software lifecycle, they design and build digital solutions for their clients in a variety of industry verticals. They speak their customers’ language and their delivery is world class. Their solutions transform systems, platforms and processes for the world’s leading brands in Capital Markets, Banking, Payments, Insurance, Media, Retail, Travel and Telecommunications.

Role:
As Senior User Researcher, you will run research projects in a diverse portfolio of UK and international clients. You will draw on your broad UX research experience in formative and evaluative research projects and deliver spectacular insights that enable our delivery teams to create innovative and user-centric digital products for our clients. You will collaborate closely with other members of the Product Strategy team and manage your own Consumer Insights team members in London and Mendham, New Jersey.
 
Main responsibilities:
  • Planning, conducting and reporting on user validation research for client projects using formal, RITE and guerrilla techniques.
  • Conducting formative research using a variety of techniques to understand our clients’ audiences, their needs and the context of use.
  • Contributing to new business proposals and helping prospective clients understand the value of user-centred design methodology.
  • Evangelising the need for and benefits of user research to our internal teams, especially in our delivery units.
  • Helping to grow the Consumer Insight discipline, so that we can broaden existing client relationships and win new ones.
  • Managing and mentor the growing Consumer Insights team.
  • International travel for up to 20% of the working month.
 
Required skills and experience
  • At least 7 years’ experience in UX research in agencies, consultancies or client side.
  • Educated to degree level in HCI, psychology or design.
  • Well versed in validation research techniques, especially RITE (to fit with Agile Delivery).
  • Experience in writing participant recruitment briefs and screeners to ensure we talk to the right people.
  • Expert knowledge of Morae usability testing software or equivalent.
  • Experience in expert UX reviews, including cognitive walkthroughs and competitive analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills and trusted methods for extracting insights from a mass of data.
  • Experience of managing or mentoring more junior team members.
  • Track record of close collaboration with senior designers and strategists.
  • Impeccable communication and observation skills.
 
Desirable skills and experience
  • Knowledge of ethnographic and other formative research techniques and the deliverables that result - personas, mental models, customer journey maps.
  • Experience of working with agile delivery
  • Past collaboration across locations and national boundaries, with tools such as Slack, Skype, Confluence and JIRA.
  • Knowledge of online user research tools.
