The Role:
The role of Client Services Director within the company ensures excellence in service and creative throughout the organisation. The ideal candidate should have experience within the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry with at least 6+ years account management experience at Senior Account Director or Client Services Director level.
As a Client Services Director you will ensure ongoing success through development of strong, trusted and lasting client relationships that ensure all clients feel like they are ‘our only client’. You will also be responsible for strategic development of accounts, financial management, people and training, management and development of new business. You will demonstrate commercial acumen, excellent presentation skills, an ability to make an impact on the bottom line and add value at a senior level. With gravitas, maturity, and confidence, you will be an inspiring leader, managing and motivating your team.
Working with clients to gain a sound knowledge of their business objectives and short-, medium- and longer-term goals is essential in ensuring delivery of successful project and campaign solutions whilst always maintaining an overall awareness of opportunities that will open up opportunities for new business development. Monitoring historic and planned client spend whilst recognising opportunities for add-on sales is essential. Ensuring profitability on all projects will be achieved by monitoring internal timings and cost sheets, gauging required work to completion, and managing client expectations to bring projects in on time and on budget.
A thorough knowledge of latest industry trends across traditional and new media is essential and the ability to integrate a mix of appropriate communications channels whilst developing strategic and creative solutions is paramount.
As an experienced marketeer, your ability to work closely with a broad mix of clients across a variety of business sectors is imperative. You will have the ability to engage and communicate clearly with internal team members and external suppliers to manage risk and deliver profitable project/campaign solutions from brief, budgeting and scheduling to final delivery and reporting. Your creative thinking, knowledge and experience of the communications industry will ensure that you can react fast to develop strategic, innovative and relevant cross-channel campaigns that we can all be proud of.
Account / customer service and management
Responsibility for several clients across varied industry sectors with a mix of different goals and objectives.- Be their ‘partner’, be an extension of their team rather than a supplier. Understand what makes them ‘tick’ – anticipate their needs and aim to be one step ahead at all times.
- Managing and developing client relationships across our entire portfolio of services.
- Fully understand client’s business objectives, work with them to achieve their goals and add value by challenging their ideas if appropriate.
- Manage and schedule ongoing client contact meetings to stay on top of current and future opportunities.
- Understand client briefs and work with them to establish appropriate solutions based on their desired outcomes.
- Add value though awareness of alternative delivery solutions and innovative thinking.
- Manage clients’ expectations and always keep them informed to ensure projects stay within scope and on budget – negotiate accordingly.
- Seek to increase sales by maintaining an awareness of client’s competitor activity and collate ideas for pro-active business development opportunities.
- Maintain awareness of clients ongoing plans to seek opportunities to up-sell wherever possible.
- Work with the internal team in developing strategy and creative solutions for both existing clients and pitch presentation for new business.
- Seek opportunities for new business and up-selling through initiative and awareness of potential leads from any source – make contact and keep in touch accordingly.
- Ensure client expectations are met or exceeded at all times.
Project / campaign management- Manage and monitor projects/campaigns from receipt of brief, through budgeting, scheduling, and concept stages to final delivery.
- The ability to manage multiple clients and multiple projects and schedule workload accordingly.
- Brief the creative team and/or external suppliers and coordinate output accordingly.
- Use your knowledge of clients, their brands and their objectives to ensure creative solutions are on brand, fit the brief and are appropriate for client requirements and target audience.
- Work with the internal team and external suppliers to collate information and prepare proposals and cost estimates that fit the brief.
- Schedule project lead times, set deadlines and ensure clients, the internal team and external suppliers are always informed – co-ordinate all parties.
- Schedule meetings with clients, internal team and suppliers as required.
- Prepare contact reports and action plans as follow-up to client meetings.
- Set deadlines for external suppliers and internal team that will ensure projects are delivered on or before the deadline.
- Share information as required among all those involved in any project at any time.
- Work with clients and the internal team to ensure against scope creep and keep projects focused.
- Identify uncertainties and anticipate potential problems in advance and manage issues should they arise.
- Report and feedback on progress and results of project activity where appropriate. Continually seek to improve campaign performance.
- Ensure project delivery meets or exceeds expectations.
- Seek to improve processes and efficiency wherever possible.
Financial management- Be aware of client budgets and seek to maximise their spend by delivering added value to campaigns/projects.
- Analyse historic projects and client spend to anticipate new projects or seasonal activity – maintain client contact so as not to miss opportunities for additional business.
- Ongoing reporting of client spend and forecasting for future spend and activity.
- Work closely with MD to set revenue targets on a per-client basis.
- Liaise with internal team members to establish realistic time allocation for projects prior to preparing estimates, deadlines and project specifications.
- Collate costs from external suppliers and always challenge them for best prices. Seek alternative suppliers for comparisons to maximise margins.
- Ensure profitability by managing clients, the internal team and outside suppliers to ensure projects stay on track, on time and within scope.
- Monitor project cost sheets to ensure profitability and anticipate additional internal costs or external supplier requirements – keep all those involved up to date at all times.
- Inform clients in advance if projects are likely to exceed proposed estimates or deadlines.
- Take personal responsibility of final project costs and sales figures and assist invoicing department as required.
- Seek to improve processes to increase profitability.
Specific responsibilities- Challenge and/or interpret a client’s brief, create a creative brief including objectives and brief the creative team.
- Produce contact reports – with actions and out within 24 hours to client.
- Understand and communicate deadlines – from client brief through studio and production, on the board etc. Ensure everyone knows deadlines – including WIP with the MD – and related time allocated to estimate to ensure we are profitable. Work backwards from these.
- Agreeing the daily/weekly resource requirements for your projects for the creative studio and inform the client services team of what needs doing and when.
- Collating and preparing detailed estimates/schedules and fees and presenting to client.
- Ensuring project budgets are tracked to maintain profit margin.
- Schedule workflow with the team to ensure project deadlines are met, and ensure timings are tracked - both those agreed internally as well as those agreed with clients and suppliers.
- Managing, advising, and motivating each member of the wider agency team to effectively deliver their key responsibilities for creative development and production of campaigns.
- Responsibility for overseeing delivery from third party vendors on each project and liaison with other partners to ensure appropriate delivery on time and on budget.
- Be the recognised owner of/authority on the status of each of your projects and see it through to its completion.
- Develop a good understanding of the client’s product or service by gathering information from client’s own collateral and through research.
- Manage multiple briefs/campaigns at a time, allocating the appropriate amount of time to ensure all projects are completed on time and on budget.
- Meet and liaise with the MD to discuss the objectives and requirements of each brief.
- Ability to present ideas and concepts in-house and to clients.
- Provide support to enable a positive and enthusiastic team.
- Be proactive in considering improvement of internal procedures and working practices.
- Actively participate in the new business drive in helping to construct and update our own website and marketing activity.
- Play an active role in the company’s ‘house’ social media strategy.
- Help to keep abreast of new Case Studies (with results) as work is completed for addition to our website.
