The Organisation:
We are currently working with a multi-asset investment platform that empowers people to grow their knowledge and wealth as part of a global community of successful investors. Our client was founded in 2007 and is now a global network of more than 30 million registered users who share their investment strategies.
The Role:
Based in the UK and reporting to the Global Head of PR & Communications, the Interim European Head of PR & Communications is a 9 month fixed term contract covering a maternity leave. Our client has a very active PR programme in Europe. The business currently undertakes PR activity in 10 European markets supported by PR agencies on the ground in each country. The Interim European Head of PR & Communications has two direct reports - two PR & Communications Managers.
The role will also be required to support the wider business on communications topics including working with the Marketing team, Investor Relations, the Investment Office, Customer Service and other departments as required. As part of the Global PR & Communications team, the Interim European Head of PR & Communications will also play a key role in supporting the global PR strategy and programme for our client. Our clients Global PR team consists of the Global Head of PR & Communications, the US Head of PR & Communications, the European Head of PR & Communications and two PR & Communications Managers.
Main responsibilities:
Lead our clients PR efforts for Europe - manage the PR strategy and programme for the company in Europe: Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Poland, Romania and the Czech Republic.
Management of European PR agencies (and liaison with agencies in other markets as required).- Press office functions:
- Facilitating the answering of direct media requests;
- Progressing appropriate opportunities put forward by the PR agencies;
- Reviewing/editing PR plans / campaigns, press releases, house views, positioning statements, Q&As and ad-hoc media notes;
- Liaison with content writers regarding placed articles and other written commentary;
- Organizing media events and media attendance at events and conferences;
- Co-ordinating submissions for awards and surveys;
Monitoring and managing our client’s reputation:- Supervise the active monitoring of the companies reputation across European markets.
- Monitoring key debates and identifying story opportunities as well as potential issues
- Managing crisis communications or issues management - with the support of the Global Head of PR & Communications
Communications:- Support the business on communications topics including working with the Marketing team, Investor Relations team, Corporate Strategy group, communication, Investment Office, Customer Service and other departments.
- Work with teams including SEO, social media, analyst team to ensure our client has an integrated approach to PR & Communications.
Acting as a member of the Global PR team:- Contribute to global PR strategy;
- Coordinate with other team members to achieve ‘global’ campaigns;
- Support coordination of PR activity between local marketing and PR teams and the central teams in Israel and London;
- Encouraging sharing of best practice between countries.
Evaluation:- Responsibility for monitoring and achieving European KPIs;
- Oversight of weekly, monthly and quarterly updates for the global PR evaluation;
- Showcase the success of European PR and demonstrate the value of PR to the business.
Manage PR budget spend and compile necessary records and input to Global Head of PR and Communications for budget exercise.
Key skills and experience:- 5 plus years PR experience (inhouse or agency);
- Experience of managing PR agencies;
- Fluent English; extra languages an advantage;
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills;
- Pro-active and solutions driven with a strong sense of responsibility;
- Ability to work in crisis mode;
- Understanding of European media landscape an advantage;
- Understanding of investing/financial markets an advantage;
- Experience of working with other nationalities and as part of a cross-functional team an advantage.
