The Role:
Technical Project Managers (TPMs) are problem solvers whose expertise allows them to guide complex projects through the full build cycle. TPMs must have strong leadership skills to help them oversee the project team’s activities, they are accountable for the overall quality of work in conjunction with team leads, ensuring requirements are met and projects are delivered on time, on budget, and within scope.
They are great communicators, and motivators with an innate ability to 'get things done'. As a result they wear many hats. They advise teams and clients on best practices, scope and budgets, concepts and work. They can build strong, resilient relationships with internal departments and external clients. Technical Project Managers are flexible and creative in their approach whilst leading on best practices; they should be focused, results driven, persuasive and have strong negotiating skills.
Technical Project Managers are ultimately responsible for managing all aspects of the project life cycle from initiation through to build, they must be intimately familiar with the roles played by all disciplines across the agency, this includes Creative, Content, User Experience and especially Development and Quality Assurance. Whether it’s advising on the feasibility of requirements, validating deliverables, understanding user and business goals, or planning to build and test across different platforms, devices and operating systems, the only thing that is certain is that no one day is ever the same.
The TPM will need to provide and promote high standards of professionalism and leadership throughout the life of projects, both within and outside the business, appropriately representing the client’s philosophies, protocols and standards
 
The responsibilities of the role:
  • Execute the agency’s projects / programmes, leading the scoping and planning of these: owning statements of work, project plans, estimations, tracking and updating documentation through the project life-cycle
  • Responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered to time and budget
  • Work with account and discipline leads to develop project scope, timing and pricing based on business, user and functional requirements.
  • Lead the day to day management of project teams including kick-offs and internal resourcing
  • Define responsibilities and allocation of tasks with the project team
  • Identify, manage and monitor project risks, issues and assumptions
  • Own client communication through the course of the project delivery
  • Communicate project requirements clearly to ensure unity and understanding between the teams
  • Weekly status reporting to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Track the project actual time and expenses incurred and have an accurate understanding of revenue forecast across all your projects
  • Responsible for managing clear client feedback, team comm’s and implementation
  • Responsible for Client sign-off on key project deliverables
Key Skills.
Technology skills:
  • Working knowledge of Cloud infrastructure, including content delivery –specifically Azure
  • Familiar with a variety of CMS/CEP products (e.g. Sitecore, EPiServer,etc.)
  • Familiar with delivery toolsets eg continuous source control anddeployment
  • Knowledge of server-side technologies (ASP.NET, SQL) Core Skills:
  • FamiliarwithMicrosoftOfficesuite,MicrosoftProject,AdobeAcrobat,Microsoft Visio
  • Strong Agile practise skills - ability to run an Agile team, Inc. dailystand-ups, retrospectives, estimating process etc (SCRUMCertified)
  • Experience in understanding the best architecture, technologies, software, and development processes to use for a project is crucial and the ability to explain and communicate all of it in plain English to a client isnecessary
  • Experience in managing technically complex deliveries including platform design, build, integration anddeployment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to deal clearly and professionally with clients and technicalresources
  • Experienced in managing of creative and development teams of up to 10+people
  • Aptitude for dynamic inter-team resourcing and prioritisation i.e. removing blockers for maximumvelocity
  • Good project planning and documentation skills
  • Development of resource & deliveryplans
  • Project tracking andreporting
  • Ability to build strong and trusting relationships both with internal and external parties
  • Skilled in supporting the team in gathering project requirements
  • Excellent numeric skills, ability to work with accounting systems and commercial reporting with confidence

  • Experience in managing third party suppliers
  • A good knowledge of typical build projectrisks

Key Experience.
Technology skills:
  • Strong JIRA and Confluence skills
  • Working knowledge of Cloud infrastructure, including content delivery – specifically Azure
  • Familiar with a variety of CMS/CEP products (e.g. Sitecore, EPiServer, etc.)
  • Familiar with delivery toolsets eg continuous source control and deployment
  • Knowledge of server-side technologies (ASP.NET, SQL) plus mobile 3
  • Robust knowledge of associated technology processes – specifically QA and test approaches to run high quality test phases
Core Skills:
  • Strong Agile practise skills - ability to run an Agile team, Inc. daily stand-ups, retrospectives, estimating process etc (SCRUM Certified)
  • A good knowledge of typical build project risks and ability to manage RAID logs effectively and proactively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to deal clearly and professionally with clients and technical resources
  • Excellent numeric skills, ability to work with accounting systems and commercial reporting
  • Management of creative and development teams of up to 10+ people and with an aptitude for dynamic inter-team resourcing and prioritisation i.e. removing blockers for maximum velocity
  • Good project planning with the development of resource & delivery plans
  • Project tracking, reporting and good documentation skills
  • Ability to build strong and trusting relationships both with internal and external parties
  • Skilled in supporting the team in gathering project requirements
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Skilled at Interfacing with developers with an understanding of build technologies
  • ▪ Familiar with Microsoft Office suite
Key Experience.
  • 6+ years experience managing technically complex deliveries including platform design, build, integration and deployment – in a mixed creative and technical environment
  • Running a business-critical solution while deploying frequently and safely
  • Demonstrable experience of successful delivery of project budgets valued £500k+
  • Confident with Client management and able to effectively represent the company in Client interactions
  • Ability to matrix manage resources in a busy agency environment
  • Experience in understanding the best architecture, technologies, software, and development processes to use for a project is crucial and the ability to explain and communicate all of it in plain English to a client as necessary
