The Role
As CRO / Head of Credit, you will join the senior leadership team and be responsible for defining and executing the credit risk strategy across all products and markets. You will establish a scalable and robust risk framework, own the credit policy, and work cross-functionally with product, compliance, sales, and engineering teams. This is a hands-on role with both strategic and operational responsibilities, ideal for a proven credit leader with deep fintech, SaaS or banking experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and own the end-to-end credit risk strategy for the business.
- Build scalable risk and underwriting frameworks to support current and future lending products.
- Define and enforce credit policies, approval matrices, and early warning systems.
- Collaborate with data science and product teams to build proprietary risk models.
- Serve as the executive point of contact with regulators and key lending partners regarding risk.
- Own the development of automated decisioning engines and credit rules within the platform.
- Lead portfolio management initiatives and ensure optimal performance and compliance.
- Advise the board and CEO on emerging credit risks, trends and regulatory shifts.
- Lead a small but growing team of credit and risk professionals.

What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years in credit, lending, or risk functions in fintech, banking or SaaS environments.
- Prior experience building credit risk frameworks from the ground up in a fast-paced or startup environment.
- Proven track record managing credit across unsecured and/or SME portfolios.
- Strong quantitative and analytical mindset, comfortable with data science and modelling teams.
- Commercially astute, with the ability to balance growth with risk appetite.
- Deep understanding of FCA regulations and UK lending compliance.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, comfortable interfacing at board level.
