Excellent career opportunity!

The Organisation
We are currently working with one of the UK’s most effective integrated creative marketing and advertising agencies with a strong focus on pharmaceutical and healthcare. They combine clever strategy and award-winning creative work, delivered expertly across every platform of communication. Working with B2B, B2C and Non-profit sectors.

Their training and career progression paths are developed to give their staff the best possible chance to become the absolute best version of themselves. They will support and nurture your career, so you are working at your full potential.

The Role:
The role of Account Director is the perfect opportunity for a passionate, energetic, versatile, and experienced marketer with a thorough knowledge of the latest industry trends across traditional and digital media.

Reporting to the Managing Director whilst working as part of the whole team, the ability to manage client and supplier expectations, schedule workflow and ensure profitability on projects of all sizes, across multiple channels and industry sectors, is paramount.

You will build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships and demonstrate a clear understanding of their needs and briefs. You will possess great liaison; organisational and financial skills and you must be able to work independently and proactively. You will be the key lead between your clients and the team with an enthusiastic work ethic that continually brings the best out of those you’ll be overseeing.

You will also need to be able to combine excellent communication skills with a personality that builds lasting client relationships. Your creative thinking, knowledge and experience of the communications industry will ensure that you can react fast to develop strategic, innovative, and relevant cross-channel campaigns that we can all be proud of.

Day-to-day
  • The experience to speak confidently and knowledgeably about all services offered in client facing situations.
  • The energy and self-motivation to be proactive in understanding your clients’ business objectives, being aware of competitor activity and seeking opportunities for ongoing business development.
  • The ability to manage risk and schedule workflow across multiple projects, from preparation and delivery of project proposals, through briefing, budgeting, and scheduling, through quality control to final delivery and reporting.
  • A passion for the industry that ensures ongoing awareness of how brands are exploiting latest communication channels and how we can stay ahead of the game in new technologies.
  • The drive and enthusiasm to exceed expectations in everything they do and be a pivotal part of the team which will take the company through their next states of growth.

Skills required
  • Become an excellent communicator – it’s imperative that you can simplify the complicated, especially when speaking to clients.
  • Be a willing negotiator – must be able to argue your corner on the behalf of your team and the client. Negotiate fees and usage prices with suppliers or indirectly via producers.
  • Have outstanding attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Be able to manage multiple projects and stakeholders at the same time by having exceptional prioritisation skills.
  • Understand when to ask for support from the more senior team but always come prepared with your own point of view and solution to the challenge – solutions not problems.
  • You should have confidence in dealing with (at times) demanding clients and creative teams!
  • Be familiar with the commercials – don’t be afraid to ask for mentoring - in terms of the complete picture of finances (including opportunities to charge more), what time allocated, what time spent, in costs and out costs, value to client, measurement and ROI where feasible.
  • Become familiar with the individual clients’ own commercials – what are their business objectives, what are their business needs etc.
  • Challenge client briefs. Are they clear? Is what they want the best solution? What type of work (creative / channels) will resonate with different audience groups? Brainstorm, if necessary, with other team members.
  • Challenge the creative – is their solution the best it can be? Does it fit the brief? Does it fit with AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action)? Is the call to action the strongest / simplest it can be? Where does it take the audience and does the journey work?
  • Have confidence in monitoring and recording financials relating to all aspects of the account and keeping MD updated.
  • Mid-level knowledge from a production point of view of several different marketing disciplines such as ‘Direct’ and digital channel delivery.
  • Start to gain an understanding of the management skills associated with direct response, CRM programs, traditional and digital marketing performance across multi-channel campaigns, and customer experience.

Specific responsibilities
  • Challenge and/or interpret a client’s brief, create a creative brief and objectives and brief the creatives.
  • Produce contact reports – with actions – for approval by line manager and out within 24 hours to client.
  • Understand and communicate deadlines – from client brief through studio and production, on the board etc.  Ensure everyone knows deadlines – including WIP with Martin – and related time allocated to estimate to ensure we are profitable. Work backwards from these.
  • Agreeing the daily/weekly resource requirements for your projects for creative and studio and inform the client services team of what needs doing and when.
  • Collating and preparing detailed estimates/schedules and fees for sign off by MD and presenting to client.
  • Ensuring project budgets are tracked to maintain profit margin.
  • Schedule workflow with the team to ensure project deadlines are met, and ensure timings are tracked - both those agreed internally as well as those agreed with clients and suppliers.
  • Managing, advising, and motivating each member of the wider agency team to effectively deliver their key responsibilities for creative development and production of campaigns.
  • Responsibility for overseeing delivery from third party vendors on each project and liaison with other partners to ensure appropriate delivery on time and on budget.
  • Be the recognised owner of/authority on the status of each of your projects and see it through to its completion.
  • Develop a good understanding of the client’s product by gathering information from client’s own collateral and through research.
  • Manage multiple briefs/campaigns at a time, allocating the appropriate amount of time to ensure all projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Meet and liaise with the MD to discuss the objectives and requirements of each brief.
  • Ability to present ideas and concepts in-house and to clients.
  • Provide support to enable a positive and enthusiastic team.
  • Be proactive in considering improvement of internal procedures and working practices.
  • Actively participate in the new business drive in helping to construct and update our own website and marketing activity.
  • Play an active role in the company’s house’ social media strategy.
  • Help to keep abreast of new Case Studies (with results) as work is completed for addition to our website.
Personal qualities required
  • Ability to work on Mac and PC platforms
  • Ability to overcome obstacles and find appropriate solutions to problems
  • Strong team player with the ability to self-motivate and work autonomously
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and motivated
  • Excellent communicator – both verbal and written English
  • Organised and efficient, with attention to detail
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Flexible attitude and approach to work
  • Willing to work as part of a team and to commit to shared goals and aspirations
  • Keen interest in copy, words, and competitive activity for both our clients and the company
  • Strong personal awareness
