The Role:
You will be reporting into the Managing Director and Media and responsible for Head of Programming, Head of Production & Content, Deputy Director, Digital Products.
 
The Director of Digital Media will have overall responsibility for leading the commercial and
operational delivery of the organisation’s digital output achieving a step change in income and audience reach in order to support key business objectives. The ambition is to increase the net return to the organisation, and to the artists and co-producers, to support both the organisations and sector’s financial sustainability in a fast-changing world.
 


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Digital Media team to deliver against key commercial and audience objectives stemming from the organisation’s business plan.
  • Lead the company’s existing digital business including creation and delivery of world-class content that engages the broadest global audiences, expertly managing a range of productions either produced in-house or with third party producers across the theatre sector.
  • Lead the commercial P&L for company’s digital output including  Live, at Home and their Collection, ensuring income generation opportunities are maximised across the existing and future digital output to meet financial targets from the business plan (including ticket income, subscription income, sponsorship, and fundraising).
  • Curate programming for digital releases in collaboration with the Managing Director, Digital working with the Executive and Programming team.
  • Leading on key negotiations with co-producers, talent and unions as required. Confidently and calmly negotiate existing and new relationships and contracts across the business to ensure value for money is achieved.
  • Manage, motivate, and coach teams of high-performing and highly skilled cross-functional staff.
  • Ensure all team members are supported to perform at a consistently high level and that they deliver strategic objectives.
  • Ensure content delivered digitally is produced to the highest standards, optimised for the delivery channel, and produced in collaboration with Creative teams.
  • Make leading contributions to concept development, business planning and implementation for new strands of monetised digital content and distribution.
 
 

Personal qualities and skills
  • A deep understanding of digital media and a substantial track record of driving and delivering commercial value through it, with an entrepreneurial spirit and comfort within an evolving and growing business.
  • Established and successful track record of owning, running, and growing a P&L of equivalent size.
  • Strong understanding of, and experience within, the theatrical sales and distribution market and/or streaming, OTT & D2C media environment
  • High level of commercial awareness with the ability to identify, define and deliver wider opportunities which can maximise revenue generation.
  • Proven experience demonstrating high performance as a team leader with the ability to lead and develop cross-functional teams to generate a vision, establish direction, motivate members, create an atmosphere of trust, leverage diverse views, coach staff, and encourage improvement and innovation; balanced with the need to deliver against ambitious commercial objectives.
  • An expert negotiator and problem solver, solutions-focused with a positive and determined attitude, a strong business acumen and strong analytical and critical thinking skills enabling you to pivot and flex in a demanding and changing environment.
  • Confidence and credibility to hold high level discussions with the senior stakeholders, artists, co -producers, and partners.
  • Strong analytical, presentation and listening skills
