Their team of experienced media leaders delivers high quality advice and support through structured multi-year programmes focusing on strategy, planning, product development, sales, marketing, customer success and finance.- They are media and information specialists, with experience in subscriptions memberships, marketing services, publishing and events - both b2b and b2c.

- serving Insights, delivered through roundtables, webinars and articles year-round
The Role:
They are seeking Strategic Advisers to take the lead on strategic engagements with their growing client base of high growth independent media businesses.
Strategic Advisers help clients to apply and embed Scaleup programmes and give the clients a robust link between board level strategy and the SMT’s value creation work.
Every engagement is led by a Strategic Adviser, whose role is to work with owners, CEOs and the Board on strategy and value creation.
The ideal candidate is ambitious, client-focused, commercially strong and highly persuasive. They will have direct experience of working in the media and information sector.
Experience
- You will have held CEO or MD roles, managing £10m+ P&L, or
- Successful Entrepreneur who has scaled a business to exit
- Deep knowledge of one or more of; events, marketing services, memberships, or subscription-based business models
Key Responsibilities:
There are 5 components to the Strategic Adviser role, majoring on Client Delivery as the primary deliverable.
Client Delivery
Giving consistent advice on Company Strategy and Value Creation
The Strategic Adviser has to balance the long-term vision for the business, its 3 year plan and its current trading vs budget. It’s the adviser’s responsibility to help the CEO and owners to prioritise between those goals.
Embedding Good Governance
The Strategic Adviser will join client Board meetings (monthly or bi-monthly) in one of three roles, depending on the company’s maturity.
CEO Mentoring
The Strategic Adviser supports the CEO (and/or Co-Founders) in evolving their own roles as leaders and P&L owners.
Making The Difference: Tactical Recommendations
Their goal is to more than pay for their engagement over the course of the 12 months through tactical problem-solving alone, including revenue maximisation techniques and cost-saving recommendations.
Leadership and collaboration
For each client, you will be responsible for ensuring the best outcomes.- Collaborate with other advisers (internal and external) to ensure all programs are delivered on target and maximise value creation for the client
- Host regular programme meetings to ensure all advice is aligned
- Provide clear briefs and regular updates to the wider delivery team
- Review and where appropriate contribute to key programme outputs
Thought Leadership- Consistently build knowledge about matters relevant to scaling a business in the media industry
- Take an active role in the entrepreneurial community, contributing to discussions in the Media entrepreneur Meetup up other relevant networks
- Speak at/host events (digital and in person) in line with growth marketing strategy
IP Development- Input into and continuously improve IP and programme delivery
Skills & Experience:
Attributes and Skills- Mature, confident: able to work with complex group dynamics and get clients to change

- Integrated skillset: able to build a plan around words and numbers
Strategy and Planning- Understanding of requirements for Board papers and strategy documents
- Ability to brief on, develop, edit and critique strategic plans
- Detailed timeline and action planning
Budgeting, Forecasting and KPI Reporting- Ability to set up assumptions and adapt budgeting and forecasting templates
- Rational, tested approach to forecasting
- Ability to help clients set up relevant KPI Reports and identify North Star measurements
Organisation- Highly organised
- Habit of documenting all client and internal communications
- Will need to consistently use and populate project management system
Communication and Teamwork- Proactive communicator
