The Role:
Our client is looking for a motivated Digital Design Director to join their Brand experience team.
As a passionate creative thinker, you’ll be supporting and working closely with clients, Creative Director and the wider experience team to bring together brand strategy, business goals and user insight, to deliver beautifully crafted, category defining, brand experiences.
Their work is diverse in sector and nature and so they are looking for someone who is comfortable and excited at working across channels, someone who takes an integrated ecosystem view of brand experience. You will be working principally across, Digital service design, Digital product design and Digital communications, designing innovative solutions for Mobile, Web and Desktop Applications for customers and employees.
As a Head of UX you are broadly responsible for a number of key areas; Strategically defining and delivering the UX vision for our clients working in collaboration with the broader agency team, Managing and mentoring a team of UX Designers to deliver a high quality product, and finally being the figurehead and primary point of contact for our clients into the UX team.
Key Skills:
As a creative leader you will be a skilled storyteller and presenter, able to communicate your concept and take the team and client with you on the journey.
You will be hands on in approach to setting the creative direction through a range of techniques, including: Workshops, Journey mapping, Prototyping, Visual and Verbal positioning and design. But you will also be equally skilled at delegating and inspiring your team to deliver the solution.
Core Responsibilities:
- As part of your role you’ll sit on the agency ‘Leadership team’ along with your peers, monitoring its overall performance, representing and being a spoke person for the interests of the UX team and helping shape the way continues to develop.
- You will work with the CXO to continue to build and maintain your team including recruitment, induction and mentoring of new UX team members.
- Be a guide, inspire and nurture your team with relevant industry thinking that’s insightful, fresh and challenging.
- Plan and resource UX work with Managing Partners, resource manager and team members on a periodic basis ensuring the right team members are on the right projects.
- Manage the career progression, annual review process, hiring and disciplinary process where needed of the UX resource.
- You will work closely with Strategy, Creative and Technology in helping to define and bring to life brand experiences across multi-channel environments, this is a hands-on role, delivering conceptual thinking in various forms through, sketches, journeys, wireframes, prototypes etc.
- Be the main point of contact for your client into the UX team and be seen as the primary holder of the clients UX vision when acting as UX Director.
- You will plan and run UX workshops with your team and client stakeholders to identify requirements and gain client buy in throughout the project, as needed.
- Lead and champion brainstorms and idea generation sessions including spearheading new digital innovations, creative technologies and touch points within your client work.
- You will be responsible for promoting modern digital design standards and patterns into the team and be the ultimate UX signoff of work quality within the agency before client review.
- You will lead or support UX presentations and in doing so display exceptional presentation and storytelling skills when communicating your ideas.
- Continuously improve and maintain the UX process, relevant tools and ways of working within the creative team.
- Work with the Sales & Marketing team and Managing partners to help seek out and unlock new business opportunities.
- Speak at internal and outside events and contribute to press stories and thought pieces working with our PR team.
- Champion and help deliver the vision, brand proposition and experience through client meetings and pitch presentations.
- Time manage and self organise meetings and your work.
- Ensure resource utilisation and budgets are met for your team
- You will provide input into creative briefs, statements of work and proposals.
- Work with Managing Partners and CS / PM teams on defining account plans.
- Identifying new business opportunities within your client accounts
- Provide input into timings and cost estimates for CS / PM teams.
Essential:
We would expect you to have a good working knowledge of:
- Figma
- Sketch
- Miro
- Google analytics
- User testing software (e.g. Userzoom/Maze)
- Ideally 10 years experience in digital Product & Service design
- Proven experience in building, managing and developing teams
- Detailed understanding of W3C accessibility guidelines
- CRO program design and implementation
- Ability to translate Data into experience propositions
- Experience in designing for responsive web and native mobile Apps
