The Role:
Our clienthas embarked on a transformation journey to support our business strategy which includes modernising our operating model as well as our technology architecture.
Key focus for Product manager is a 12 month view across their domain to look at the strategy and needs for that area as well has the 12 month delivery priority.
Responsible for Customer fulfilment mechanisms from Home delivery, Market places etc for our products and services as well as fulfilment channels and interactions (Innovation) – Apps, scan & go, wallets, etc
This role is to help shape the strategic view and plan to promote the customer trading experience through a digital interface across multiple markets. The successful candidate will need to understand the options for each territory and help identify and deliver the relevant customer fulfilment model to support that market.
This Product Manager will have a team two Product Owners who will support with the above deliveries.
Your Responsibilities:
- Have accountability for a large and complex product domain and drive the Market Places and channels as well as the latest innovation product strategy, roadmap and delivery for that by leading a team of talented Product Owners.
- Utilising deep functional expertise for strategic portfolio planning, delivery of products (including ideate, design, build, test and deploy), and management of live products.
- Translating business plans, product roadmaps and technology strategy into delivery roadmaps supporting the digital channel and enhancing the customer experience by developing and training the team to meet the needs of these priorities
- Leading the transformation to a product-based, agile at scale delivery model, establishing and maintaining cross-functional delivery teams and utilising DevOps and Agile practices
- Iteratively improving the customer experience, adapting to new insights and working with your cross functional team and stakeholders to define next steps.
- Working with the team and peers to develop shared, ambitious OKRs and hold ourselves accountable to these
- Matching demand with supply constraints (financial, people and skills, commercial) and identifying key dependencies, overlaps, conflicts and gaps
- Tracking both effort and value delivery identifying opportunities for cost reduction, using this insight to inform prioritisation of opportunities for the product area and maximise value realisation for the customer
- Responsible for managing costs associated with implications of risks/issues, involving stakeholders and managing budget variation as appropriate within the product area
- Driving Quarterly Business Planning objectives and releases content via prioritised features and enablers
- Proactively partnering with peers and director-level business stakeholders to set the future direction of strategy as part of the wider business strategy.
- Contributing to capability and capacity planning for Product Management to provide clarity and stability.
- Supporting end-to-end delivery by maintaining a 90-day product roadmap, as well as a prioritised and estimated Full Year backlog
- Relentlessly seeking to understand the needs and pains of customers and senior business stakeholder and is accountable for change adoption.
- Coordinate and report post-launch and ongoing evaluation to validate that products work for customers or colleagues as designed, gauge user sentiment and ensure that value is delivered
- Collaborating with other product teams and partners to launch new product features
- Help identify necessary and/or desirable third-party technology to evaluate and select vendors
- Monitoring relevant industry trends and engage both internal and external teams as appropriate to build shared insight
- Participate in 'on call' rota and fulfil requirements and demands as appropriate
- 10+ years experience in IT Portfolio Management, Product Management or IT Transformation Delivery at enterprise level, preferably in an agile at scale environment
- Experience of owning and managing senior business stakeholder relationships
- An appropriate degree, equivalent qualification or experience

- Possess knowledge and understanding of a retail business and the Digital technology landscape, and how to maximise the value that products can and will add

- Story telling with data: strong skills in building the case for change, sharing the vision and helping others shape their change journey, drawing on data and analytical techniques
- Strong communicator: strong communication and senior stakeholder management skills; able to turn complex messages into effective and succinct communications
- Delivering change at scale: experience of successfully enabling change at scale - across people, process and technology domains, and a range of associated delivery frameworks, including agile
- Influencer: strong ability to lead, inspire, engage and coach a diverse team and create an inclusive culture across geographical boundaries
- Collaborative partner: develop trusted relationships with key stakeholders in Technology and across the wider business
- People leadership: A people leader who role models through their own behaviour and actions, embedding change by inspiring, coaching, holding themself and others to account and setting the right inclusive culture for team and partners
- Able to define, capture and break down into hierarchies the value-based outcomes that portfolios of accountability are constructed against, and from which work is prioritised and managed, utilising online tooling
- Have an understanding of Agile delivery and modern engineering team practices
- Knowledge of technical product development principles and methodologies
- Have the ability to translate business goals, technology strategy and market knowledge into a product roadmap that prioritises delivery of value and enables future business agility
- Anticipate risks and opportunities, responding to escalations at pace and coaching others to find solutions based on your expertise
- Have the ability to switch between strategic visioning and getting into the detail, being the authority in all aspects of your product
- Have Awareness of existing and future technology stacks/interfaces for the product and how to develop these so they work seamlessly for customers and colleagues
- A high level of team contribution, seek opportunities to provide input and support across the team and outside core areas of focus
