Digital Careers, part of the Digital Recruitment Company is currently working with a growing FinTech start-up that is disrupting the UK energy market. They are an organisation that is transforming the way energy is used in homes across the UK through financing energy efficient measures and technologies. They have had considerable financial backing and are looking to grow this investment by £20million going into 2018


As a Systems/DevOps Administrator, your typical day will look like this:

  • Day-to-day infrastructure operations in dynamic on premises and AWS environments
  • Maintain customer facing, mission critical 24/7 production systems
  • Work with software developers to execute deployments of client’s suite of applications
  • Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot systems, networks and applications
  • Perform regularly scheduled maintenance and upgrades, including VM patching and replacement
  • Review and maintain monitoring systems for both infrastructure and applications
  • Provide infrastructure level support for Production, Development, and QA environments
  • Drive IT best practices for operational policies and procedures, including communication, change and incident management
  • Participate in an on-call rotation
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and consultation with vendors for purchases, services, and support


Skills Required:

  • Experience in a DevOps-oriented environment, supporting both production and Dev/QA
  • Proficient with shell scripting and/or a programming language such as Ruby or Python
  • Proficiency in setting up, configuring, and maintaining system, application, and network monitoring tools
  • Experience in setting up application performance and uptime monitoring
  • A strong understanding of IP networking fundamentals and network security
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work well in a dynamic, collaborative team environment
  • Ability to create automation utilities around RESTful APIs/web services
  • Experience with one or more configuration management frameworks such as Chef, Puppet, Salt or Ansible
  • Experience with Android OS
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes, and /or virtualization platforms like VMWare and Citrix XenServer
  • Experience with configuration and administration of the Atlassian tool suite
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo
  • Experience with version management tools, preferably Git with Gerrit


They would love:

  • Prior experience with financial systems or workforce / field service / maintenance management
  • Experience in building asynchronous distributed systems
  • You will need to have:
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • 3-5 years of experience with Linux system administration, deployment, configuration, and management
  • 2+ years of hands on experience implementing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing cloud-based environments (AWS preferred)
