The Organisation:

The Digital Recruitment Company are working with a well-established Service Design Agency. This agency works with global clients ranging from top retail clients to international telecommunication giants.

This company is in a fantastic place with experienced staff and big clientele, they are looking for someone to help them grow the business with new clients and revenue. This isn’t a pure sales role but more relationship builder and networker.

Primary Responsibilities of the role:

(Areas that the BDD is ultimately responsible for. You are expected to be driving force behind these and may delegate tasks and manage a team to meet objectives)

Lead Generation

You are to ensure that there is a robust lead generation strategy in place that aligns with the company’s vision and aims. You are responsible for delivering this strategy and to generate qualified leads to the business. This responsibility includes the identification of leads within relevant roles and sectors, qualification as well as outreach. You are expected to direct and support others in the business where appropriate and will work towards a set of specified KPIs. There is an existing lead generation strategy in place, which you are expected to deliver against, as well as continuously improve based on regular reviews and feedback.

Convert New Business

You are to lead (or delegate the lead role) all new business opportunities, including commercial negotiations and handover/onboarding to client services. You will need to work closely with others in the management team to ensure we have:

  • All the relevant insight needed to respond to the brief
  • The right delivery team on the project
  • An approach that relates to client’s needs regarding timescales and budget

Contracts and Frameworks

As part of your business development role, you are expected to lead and oversee the drawing up of procurement frameworks, RFIs, RFPs, SoWs and commercial/legal contracts. You are to ensure that all relevant contributors are briefed and given clear guidance on their roles.

Company Health Check

You should ensure that data pertaining to project delivery and commercial performance of new business and client accounts to ensure KPIs are being met. Where they are not, you are expected to work with others in the business to plan and drive forward any remedial action required, as well as report this to management team on a weekly basis.

Company Culture and Ambitions

You are expected to contribute to the development of company culture, bring this to life in the work that you do and the example you set for the rest of the business.

Benchmarking and Proposition Development

You will make an ongoing effort to benchmark the business against competitors, client needs and predicted trends in order to advise on the proposition and positioning of the business.

Skills and Approach to Support Vision

You are to work closely with Service Design Director to advise on the relevant skills required within the business to fully realise any new business opportunities.

Project Approach

You are to use insight gathered from your new business activity to inform how the Service Design team approaches a project brief. This may include guidance on timescales, resource, and budget.

Systems/Process and Implementation of Tools

You are to ensure that all systems in place to support commercial planning and business development are fit for purpose and working as effectively as possible.

Account Growth

You are expected to support the CSD where possible/required to assist with the planning and implementation of account growth strategies.

Client Management

You are to ensure that all new business wins are successfully onboarded and that all necessary information is passed onto CSD and project teams.

The Qualities of Ideal Candidate:

  • A ‘robust’ commercial mind-set
  • Someone who enjoys seizing responsibility and developing their remit
  • Enthusiastic, pro-active and positive outlook, who leads by example
  • Able to generate leads, meetings and healthy relationships with potential prospects
  • Previous consultancy/agency account management or new business experience.
  • Shows passion for customer experience and related disciplines
  • Genuine and positive interest in working within a fast-growing service design firm
  • Great team player who is really at engaging his peers and team members
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, very strong emotional intelligence
  • Excellent written English and attention to detail in all forms of content.
  • Able to create own pre-sales content using presentation design software packages (e.g. InDesign, Keynote etc.).
